Pruskin Hardware has a living finish and as such, has no protective coating, apart from the wax that is applied to the hardware before delivery. They are expected to change over time, either darkening, becoming increasingly matte, or becoming shiny in areas of high use.

Avoid using harsh cleaning products, such as those that contain bleach or vinegar. Clean with a damp cloth, and if desired, occasionally re-wax with a paste wax such as Minwax Paste Finishing Wax.

Polished hardware benefits from an occasional buff with a clean soft cotton or microfiber cloth after cleaning. If the surface has becomes dull, use MAAS metal polish (available locally) to restore shine and then if desired, re-wax the surface. For this kind of cleaning, the hardware may first need to be removed.
